Commissioner approves insurance rate cuts (The News Journal)
Insurance Commissioner Matt Denn said today he has approved insurance rate cuts for State Farm homeowner policies and for private passenger auto policies from three AIG companies, from Harleysville Insurance and Westfield Insurance. The approved rate cuts include: State Farm Fire and Casualty Insurance Company reduced rates for homeowner and rental policies by an average of 6 percent statewide.

The New York state Insurance Department has the 2006 Consumer Guide to Automobile Insurance available online and in hard-copy form. Superintendent Howard Mills also said the department has added a new, consumer-friendly online interactive auto insurance premium calculator to its Web site.
